Verdicchio is a lesser-known Italian white grape, grown almost exclusively in the Marche region. The Bisci family is one of the grape's leading exponents, producing an extraordinary range of sparkling white wines from their headquarters in Matelica. The 25-hectare winery was founded in 1972 by brothers Giuseppe and Pierino, and is now run by another pair of brothers, Giuseppe's sons.

Verdicchio di Matelica is the Bisci family's first and most important wine, harvested from calcareous soils within the Matelica DOC. In the glass, it is straw yellow with green highlights and seems to explode with aromas of nectarine, lemon zest, and white flowers.
